Day 01 → Your favourite song
Day 02 → Your favourite movie
Day 03 → Your favourite television programme
Day 04 → Your favourite book
It's difficult to narrow down my list of favs to a particular one. So, I'm taking the coward's way out and listing the book that has to greatest sentimental value to me.
Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley. Yes, I know it's not a great literary work and it has no redeeming qualities. The main reason I enjoy this book so much is the wonderful memories attached to it. During my years at university, I was rather close to my grandmother Vivian, in both a physical and an emotional sense. I would visit her during long weekends during school and for a few weeks over summer break. She and I would relax in the den (the room with a sofa, her reclining chair, television, and wet bar) during the afternoons, and read. She would read Scarlett and I would read Elvis and Me. It didn't matter that we had both read those books several times over, what mattered was that it was something we both enjoyed and we liked to do together. Whenever I see my copy of that book on my book shelf, I am reminded of those peaceful times Vivian and I had. Even though we can no longer share times like that anymore, (she passed away 2 days before I graduated university with my Bachelor's degree) I can still feel close to her whenever I read or even look at that book.
