More brotherly news... cut to spare the medically squemish.
So, Jack had the cath procedure done today. They found a 95% blockage in one area, so they placed a stint there. They also found weakened heart muscle from his blood pressure being so high for so long.
A bit of back story... He quit smoking back in December, because the doctors will refuse to put a smoker on the transplant list. He's been using the electronic cigarette (looks like a cigarette, contains some nicotine, but the 'smoke' is actually water vapor... don't ask me how, I have no clue how it works). Fast forward to today, after his procedure they told him no more burgers, no fried foods, and absolutely no nicotine in ANY form. Also, he has to change the type of dialysis he has. The peritoneal (stomach fluid) dialysis puts too much strain on his heart muscle, so he'll have to get ready for haemodialysis (blood dialysis), which he will have to go to his clinic for, because I'm almost positive that type can't be done at home like the other.
This weekend just gets suckier by the day. I think I may have to drop out of the Exchange... I'm so upset about this.
